The material you select for your window curtains will depend upon the upholstery of your furniture and the color of the walls. You also need to decide whether you want a thick material to block out sunlight or a lighter material that will let sunlight filter through. If you want to your curtain to be made of silk, make sure that you line it with cotton and interline it with flannel. If you don't do this, the sunlight will fade your silk and you will have to keep replacing your curtains often.
When it comes to fabric, you can find pieces of quilt or some old parts of different fabric to create a total country style look for your window and cafe curtains. All you need to do is to sew them in one fitting piece for your window and sew a rod pocket so you can combine it with your wood branch.
If you're hanging a curtain rod inside the window frame (typically spring or magnetic rods) measure at the inside point of the window. Again, measure each and every window - you don't want any surprises later!
