Cafe Curtains - Traditional Home: If a traditional home look is what you want, the brass rods with finial will be great for you. Or you can use spring loaded rods for that matter, it all depends on your personal taste. Brass rod is usually hanged by small brackets, which someone find cute, but you must know that they will be visible on your window frame. So if you don't like that, skip it. Choose spring loaded rods because they will fit on your window frame without being visible. The pocket on your cafe curtain will make sure of that.
Back to that question: how do you know whether to pick visible or invisible? Let's ask another question first: what kind of window coverings are you using? Like we said, some curtains require the invisible rod called a traverse rod. Pleated drapes are made to attach to hooks that hang from this curtain rod and open-and-close by pulling the cord hanging down one side. So if you've got pleated draperies you've already got your answer: use the traverse curtain rod.
In addition to money and time savings, you will gain a valuable asset with advice and insight on curtain and blind fitting who can help you decide on the right thing to do if there are challenges with the project. Cafe Curtains - Eclectic Home: When it comes to eclectic home, you can really go wild here. If you aim to have eclectic cafe curtains, you choices are numerous. The more unusual items, the better. Old cane, sword, pieces of mechanic tools, pipes and whatever that can fit your window. Then you need to find a way how to attach cafe curtain to your new rod, and you will be on your way.
While sewing your curtains make sure that they are not too long-they should just clear the ground. Although long, flowing curtains are beautiful to look at, the extra length will pick up dust and will need cleaning often. Fabrics differ so be sure to check if your choice drapes well. Hold it up against light to be sure the weight doesn't distort the fabric. If you are picking up a curtain with either printed or woven patterns on it, take care while sewing. These patterns will be repeated at regular intervals and you must start your hem at the same place for every cut. While buying material for your window curtains you will usually have two widths to choose from: 54 inches and between 110 and 118 inches wide. The latter is used if you decide not to line your fabric and don't want your curtains to have seams.
